In a year unlike any other, the ZUSM community was quick to respond to the challenges and uncertainties created by the COVID-19 pandemic. Earlier this year, more than 500 ZUSM medics joined the battle in Wuhan, where the coronavirus outbreak first emerged. Moreover, not only ZUSM medics and scientists protect the local community of Hangzhou and Zhejiang, but also with the front-line experiences, a handbook on the prevention and treatment of Covid-19 was later compiled and spread to over 230 countries and regions globally. Since March, over 70 webinars have been held with more than 700 healthcare institutions across the world which provide a channel for information  hands-on experience to combat the virus and to make a shared commitment to human welfare in the new normal.

Meanwhile, ZUSM scholars committed in researches to tackle the effects of the health crisis, from seeking therapies to treat the disease, to creating tools to speed the development of a vaccine. Online seminars and study programs kept up momentum by shifting scheduled activities in to vitual or hybrid format.Global Classroom for international MBBS students with 26 courses and 490 MBBs students scattered accross five continents and time zones made the class for medical students back to normal. Class with Yale students, converted the regular Summer School to virtual format. Also, students showed resiliency as they adjusted to these new virtual learning spaces to connect with one another even with the world while studying from home.
