ZUSM Medical Courses is Open to APRU Member Students

In Spring semester, 6 courses from Zhejiang University is offered to students from universities of the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) from January to August 2021.One of the academic medical courses, Pathophysiology, is given by Professor MENG Zhuoxian, from Department of Pathology and Pathophysiology, Zhejiang University School of Medicine. It provides students an exclusive opportunity to connect with peers from around the world to learn new knowledge and skills, exchange ideas and cultures, and develop connections vital for success, especially in the new age responding to the disruptions brought by the pandemic. We are going to share much more courses to medical students globally.

 

Pathophysiology

Pathophysiology is a medical science concerning the etiology and pathogenesis of diseases, as well as the mechanisms of functional and metabolic alterations in diseases.Emphasis is placed on the mechanisms and concepts of most commonly encountered diseases and disorders to the human body. Selected lectures include fever, hypoxia, stress, shock, disturbances of hemostasis, abnormal cell proliferation and differentiation, heart failure, etc. These may provide awareness of possible implications for certain aspects of diseases, current scientific advances and therapeutic options. The course aims to enable students to apply scientific reasoning skills to the study of human diseases.

APRU is a network of leading universities linking the Americas, Asia and Australasia, which was established in Los Angeles in 1997 by the presidents of UCLA, Berkeley, Caltech and the University of Southern California (USC). It now has a membership of the presidents of 56 leading research universities from around the Pacific Rim. This includes 200,000 academic staff and 2 million students.
